Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

What exactly does MedArmenia do?

MedArmenia provides patients from Germany with information about treatment options in Armenia and helps with the organisation: contacting the clinic, obtaining a cost overview, scheduling appointments and, if you wish, arranging accommodation and airport transfers.

Is MedArmenia a clinic or a medical practice?

No. MedArmenia does not provide medical services and does not make diagnoses. Examination, the informed-consent consultation and treatment are carried out exclusively by the clinic’s doctors. You conclude the treatment contract directly with the clinic.

Who decides whether a treatment is suitable for me?

The treating doctor decides this together with you, following an in-person examination and an informed-consent consultation on site. A cost overview obtained in advance is not a commitment that the treatment will be carried out.

How much does treatment in Armenia cost?

The costs depend on the findings, the extent of the procedure and the clinic. For this reason, we do not quote flat-rate prices. On request, we will obtain a written cost overview that also shows which services are not included. Before you engage us, you will be told in writing what our organisational services cost.

Will my health insurance cover the costs?

As a rule, no. Armenia is not part of the EU or the EEA; costs for treatment outside this area are covered only in exceptional cases (§ 18 SGB V, German Social Code, Book V). Aesthetic procedures without medical necessity are generally paid for by the patient. Please clarify your personal situation with your health insurer in advance.

What happens if problems arise after I return home?

Before you travel, clarify who will provide aftercare in Germany and how you can reach the clinic. Important: if subsequent illnesses arise after an aesthetic operation that was not medically necessary, your statutory health insurance (gesetzliche Krankenversicherung) must require you to contribute to the costs (§ 52(2) SGB V, German Social Code, Book V). You should therefore find out about follow-up cost or complications insurance.

Which documents do I need for my first enquiry?

None. Your name, contact details and the treatment you are interested in are sufficient for your first enquiry. Please only send us medical findings or photos once we have given you a secure way to transmit them and you have consented to them being passed on.

Do I need a visa for Armenia?

Entry requirements may change. Before booking, please check the German Federal Foreign Office’s travel and safety advice for Armenia and make sure your travel document is valid.

In which language do the consultations take place?

You communicate with the MedArmenia team in German. We will clarify with the clinic in advance in which language the informed-consent consultation at the clinic will take place – and whether an interpreter will be present. Only sign documents that you fully understand.

From what age can I submit an enquiry?

Our services are aimed exclusively at adults aged 18 and over.

How long should I stay in Armenia?

That depends on the procedure and how your recovery progresses, and is determined by the treating doctor. Allow sufficient buffer time and book your return flight as flexibly as possible.

What happens to my data?

Your enquiry is stored on our server and used solely to deal with your request. We only pass data on to a clinic in Armenia with your separate, explicit consent. You will find details in our privacy policy.
