Checklist: preparing your treatment trip

This checklist will help you prepare for a treatment trip to Armenia in a structured way. It contains general planning tips and does not replace medical or legal advice.

1. Before you decide

  • Who will carry out the procedure, and what qualifications and experience does this person have?
  • Does the clinic hold the licence required for the procedure?
  • Will there be a face-to-face informed-consent consultation before the procedure – in a language you understand?
  • Do you have a written cost overview, including the services that are not included?
  • Has it been clarified who your point of contact will be if complications arise after you return home?
  • Have you given yourself enough time to think it over?

2. Insurance & documents

  • Valid travel document to hand; the German Federal Foreign Office’s travel and safety advice for Armenia checked.
  • Clarified with your health insurer: cost coverage (usually not) and possible cost-sharing for subsequent illnesses (§ 52(2) SGB V, German Social Code, Book V).
  • Checked whether your travel health insurance covers planned treatment – often it does not.
  • Found out about follow-up cost or complications insurance.
  • Copies of important documents with you, both digital and printed.

3. Health

  • GP informed of your plans.
  • List of your medication, allergies and pre-existing conditions prepared for the informed-consent consultation.
  • Clinic’s instructions on preliminary examinations, medication and fasting obtained.
  • Clarified with the clinic when, from a medical point of view, it is reasonable to fly home.

4. Your stay

  • Accommodation near the clinic and transfer booked (through us, if you wish).
  • Sufficient buffer time planned; return flight booked as flexibly as possible.
  • Comfortable clothing that is easy to put on packed for the time after the procedure.
  • If recommended: someone arranged to accompany you for the first few days.

5. After your return

  • Doctor’s letter, surgical report and – if applicable – implant card received.
  • Follow-up appointments arranged in Germany.
  • Contact details for the clinic noted for any questions.
