What does it involve?
In eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), excess skin – and, where necessary, fatty tissue – is removed from the upper or lower eyelids.
If drooping upper eyelids restrict your field of vision, there may be a medical indication. Have this checked beforehand by an ophthalmologist in Germany – it may be relevant to whether the costs are covered.
Questions for your informed-consent consultation
These questions will help you compare offers. Put them to the treating doctor – we will help you obtain the answers in writing.
- Do I have a restricted field of vision that should be documented by an ophthalmologist?
- Will the upper eyelids, the lower eyelids or both be treated, and what form of anaesthesia will be used?
- Which follow-up appointments are planned on site before I travel home?
- In the treating doctor’s view, what is the earliest point at which I should fly again?
