What does it involve?
In a hair transplant, your own hair follicles – usually taken from the back of the head – are transplanted to areas where the hair is thinning. Common harvesting techniques are FUE (extraction of individual follicular units) and FUT (removal of a narrow strip of skin).
Whether a transplant makes sense, and to what extent, depends among other things on the cause of the hair loss and on the amount of donor hair available. Only a medical examination can answer these questions.
Questions for your informed-consent consultation
These questions will help you compare offers. Put them to the treating doctor – we will help you obtain the answers in writing.
- Has the cause of my hair loss been medically investigated (e.g. by a dermatologist in Germany)?
- Which technique is recommended – and why?
- Which steps of the treatment does the doctor carry out personally, and which are performed by the assistant team?
- How many grafts are realistic for my donor area, and how is the price calculated?
- What aftercare and which follow-up appointments are planned?
